The ever increasing prices of petrol and diesel have burned a hole in people’s pockets. This has made them desperate to search for an alternative. While electric cars are the new trend, and might have been a possible alternative, the price range of these cars may not be suitable for the majority. The time taken to charge these cars might be another let down. If all other options seem unsuitable, you can give CNG cars a try!

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has been considered to be better than other fossil fuels like petrol, diesel, and LPG in a car. Initially this gas was used in public transport like auto-rickshaws, but now they are being widely used for regular cars as well.
If you are in search of an efficient car which is stylish as well as environment-friendly, here are some upcoming CNG cars that are set to be launched in India 2023.
- Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG

The third generation of Suzuki cars have been the most popular of its segment. While Maruti Suzuki CNG was made available with both petrol and diesel engine options, there is no availability of an updated petrol motor only in this segment. However, the biggest car manufacturer in India has declared its intentions of coming up with petrol and CNG engine option for this segment to attract more Swift buyers.
The New Swift CNG will come with features like 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple Car Play connectivity, rear parking camera, climate control features, child seat anchors, etc. among others.
New-generation Swift is expected to be launched in the mid of 2023.
2. Maruti Vitara Brezza CNG

Maruti Suzuki being the biggest manufacturer of cars in India has produced some of the finest cars in the country. One such example is the Vitara Brezza, which struck a perfect balance between affordability, practicality, and performance. The Brezza initially only had a diesel motor engine of 1.3litre, but with a facelift, the diesel engine made way for a petrol engine.
Soon enough the company could launch a CNG segment that would have 1.5litres petrol plus CNG engine in the Ertiga model. It is expected to come in a lower trim variant with basic features like manual AC, keyless entry, dual front airbags and parking sensors.
The new Brezza SUV would be launched on the 30th of June, 2023. The company is yet to confirm whether the CNG version of the SUV would launch alongside the petrol variant, or at a later date.
3. Maruti Baleno CNG

Maruti Baleno is considered to be the best-selling premium hatchback to be launched in India. Initially Baleno came with a petrol and a diesel engine variant. Now it is on sale with two petrol engine variants only. The company is expected to make an offer of launching a CNG version too, to provide low-running costs as compared to petrol and diesel. This might be an opportunity for Maruti to take on the competition by other CNG cars like Altroz CNG, and would be an ideal option for people who use their cars regularly.
It is reported that Baleno CNG could offer up to 25 km/kg of mileage, which is good. However, unlike the petrol models of Maruti, this model would be available with a 5-speed manual transmission only.
Maruti Baleno CNG Hatchback would be launched next year and is expected to be priced between 7.50 lakhs to 8.50 lakhs approximately.
4. Tata Altroz CNG

Tata has proved to be one of the most reliable and trusted brands for decades in the country, providing stylish, safe and affordable cars, with a lot of features. The Tata Altroz is available in petrol and diesel engine variants for now, but the brand could launch a CNG variant of cars like Tiago, Albeit, etc., to make up for a tough competition given by Maruti cars. The CNG variant is set to have a 5-speed manual gearbox transmission and might miss out on the automatic transmission option.
Tata Altroz CNG would have features similar to Maruti Suzuki CNG, like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system, height adjustable seats, etc.
Tata Altroz CNG would be a Hatchback with up to 5 seater. It is expected to be launched in February of 2023.
